Subj : Smb server not working properly

Hi,

I had my Redhat 9 Linux box running without a SMB server and it's SMB
client seemed to run properly, if somewhat very slow.  I was able to
access my Win9x and Win2k SMB servers properly.  I then kicked off the 
SMB server on Linux and the Linux client now complains that it can't
find a SMB master properly and locks up, not being able to get to the
Winxx SMB servers.  If I stop the Linux SMB server, then the client
works again.

Does anyone know what is wrong and how I can fix it?  I put in all the
RH9 patches to date.  I'm running kernel 2.4.20-31-9.
