Subj : Windows question: how to remove automatic timed popup ads?

Yes I know this is a linux group but I reckon you guys are smarter
than the windows groups :)  (I dual boot by the way, I'm moving to
linux but still have some legacy stuff on windows.)

Just wondered if anyone has seen this: every 5 mins or so I get an
explorer ad window pop up out of nowhere.  Is there some simple way to
get rid of this?  Or at least a way to find out where the cause is? 
Please point me to some info if you can.

Sorry for the mispost, but hey, it's another illustration of how
terrible windows world is getting these days.
