If you are only going to be doing this for <5 users, just add the following lines to the .bash_profile located in the client's home directory. startx To ensure that KDE starts, login as your children, type startx, and then use the Desktop Switching Tool to enable KDE as the default desktop (Assuming a RedHat type distro is being used - if not you could try xinit -e startkde) Hope this helps! .
