(don't use XOSview) Right now I'm listed as using 369M (with free), however the programs are only actually really using 157M, this is with GNOME, Firefox, Thunderbird, Apollon, GAIM, Gnome-terminal and Ryhthmbox loaded. I hope your "measurements" are not with the buffers/cache subtracted, 'cause I'd have to ask what else do you load up with your windowmanager. That XFCE, is that XFCE4? That's a "desktop environment", lower than half of the other windowmanagers. .
