What if I backup it up from a different system, say Knoppix?

I don't intend to use MAKEDEV because there are some extra devices on
my system that MAKEDEV can't recreate, such as /dev/nvidia0, created
by the nvidia driver. I don't know what other extra devices were
created when installing other drivers.
