I'am using linux, kernel 2.4. / reiserfs partitions

My /home partition has been filled up by a large file
Muving to other partition , thene deleting it, has not changed the
avalilable space: according to 'df', /hoem is still full.
Inspecting by using 'du', 100 MB turns out to be available, almost just
the size of the deleted file.
Yet i cannot copy file to /home, since probably cp relies on df infos.

I have tried to remount the partition:
   %% mount -o remount /home

but no luck

Any hints?
