These are somewhat limited of course, but let you get your > feet wet and see if your hardware causes any trouble. Quick question on these CD-based versions. Do they allow a partition on the local hard drive to be mounted and formated? I've never even looked at these alternatives but it might be the most sensible approach to being able to run linux on a laptop I have without doing more than running a partitioning sw to make a portion of the existing disk available. I'd only need to the occasional time. TIA jmh .
