get a copy of suse linux . Its supported by novell and is easy to use .
Try to buy the CD , because downloading and installing without a manual
may be difficult for newbies . Overall, it installs quite easily.

You could also try knoppix , which is a linux distro which doesnt require
installation. It just runs off a bootable CD .
