You could get a vr3 for about $100 (pda only).  But it's not very good. 
And requires a lot of hacking just to sync.  Battery life was quite good
though.

The yopy looks pretty cool.  But my next PDA will have an IrDA that's
worth a darn.  Worse case scenario, you can turn it into a universal
remote when it's been deprecated.  Also kind of neat to have said
capabilities while bar hoping. lirc.org
