hi, i have e proob to compil my kernel

when I tape make dep, he say that

carla:/usr/src/linux# make dep
*** Warning: make dep is unnecessary now.
carla:/usr/src/linux#


before I did
carla:/usr/src# ls -l
total 34324

make mrproper
make oldconfig
makemenucofig (aand save)
and make dep

is it normal???
