Subj : KDE - can I lock the panel? To : comp.os.linux From : maddman_75 Date : Thu Jun 17 2004 09:45 am I'm running a small linux network for information kiosks, on Mandrake 9.1 and mozilla. On my stations I have them pretty well closed down - no icons on the desktop, only one button on the panel for mozilla, and no k menu or anything else. Even disabled right-clicking on the desktop to keep them from messing around. But one thing still remains - right clicking on the panel. With this they can add and remove items to the panel, open all sorts of programs, get to the file system, and so on. They don't have rights to anything and can't actually cause any damage, except make everything so chaotic the next guy to come along can't use the station. Is there any way to lock the configuration of the panel, to keep anyone from adding or removing buttons? Maybe a config file I could change to read-only? I've looked but not found any such file. TIA, maddman .
