I'd hardly call it an "effort," but the source for the js docs was 
checked into CVS so that people could submit patches against it.  I've 
done this via bugzilla, though as I recall there wasn't really a good 
project (other than the JS engine) to assign the documentation bugs to.

The master XML file is at <your spidermonkey directory>/docs/jsref.xml.
