Subj : Speed and API changes since RC1

We have licensed Spyglass' browser (now owned by OpenTV) and it came 
with SpiderMonkey circa 2000, perhaps RC1, perhaps earlier.  If anyone 
can enlighten me on two issues, I'd appreciate it.

1) Has the overall speed of SpiderMonkey increased substantially since 
RC1?  I went through all the release notes for all the RCs and found 
about 10 bug fixes that improved performance in specific areas, but it 
is hard to get a feel for overall performance improvement.

2) How hard would it be to drop RC6 into a port of RC1?  I.e. has the 
API changed substantially since then.
