Subj : Re: Acid-X BBS??? To : alt.bbs,alt.bbs.ads,alt.bbs.doors From : "Mike Snyder" Date : Sat Jan 03 2004 06:05 pm He said the check was cashed. In 1998/1999 there were very few registrations, so I'd expect it to stand out. And I can understand a mistake. Mistakes happen. But he seemed very vehement in telling me I'd "get no more money from him" - and apparently he put effort into loading a cracked version. I'd expect that if the situation really happened, he'd have sent a follow-up letter, or emailed me, or tracked me down on the web (I'm not hiding), or asked his bank for assistance -- or anything but load a cracked version and bite my head off for pointing that out to him. In fact, he seemed to go the other direction with it. It looks like he deleted the game from his BBS (my access was revoked to enter anything, but I didn't see it on the list any longer). I would have expected a different reaction - perhaps a frustrated one if the situation was as he described - but one in which he presents perhaps a scan of the cancelled check and can finally obtain the lost registration. My instinct is, he just didn't want to pay. It's difficult to interpret the experience any other way. I don't know which other doors are legitimately registered there, or even if those authors care to follow up these days. You can find the Lunatix BBS door at http://www.prowler-pro.com/n-e-ware/ - on the "Lunatix & IGM's" sidebar link. There is a player editor available, some IGM's (inluding one that acts as a go-between script processor - there are quite a few script IGM's available for it). Anyway, everything is there on those pages. I wasn't really trying to advertise in bringing this up - I think more than anything I was disturbed by the Acid-X ad claiming Lunatix among a list of "registered" door games, only to find it cracked instead - further disturbed after what happened in pointing it out to him. Thanks for the reply. I'll check out your board!
