And it's not to be confused with source code version control features
seen in many IDEs which allow rolling back to a previous version of
project source code.

Anyway, "checkpoint and rollback recovery" has been a heavily
researched area with the objective of recovering computer state from
unwanted damage caused by released binary code and optionally
generating runtime logs of such binary code for the product
manufacturer to review their product in the original development
environment.
