Cost of a thing's creation to the creator or others has little to do
with a thing's value to the creator or others.  (I do not deny that 
labor might be valuable to you if you the "thing" you desire is the
labor of creation of another thing, of course: but creation of a thing
is not the thing!  I fully support people who want to charge for
creation of things.)
