They possibly replace the postal person and the customer never knows the difference. You are not going to hear internal squabbles 3,000 miles away. Rather than ship an entire project to India, perhaps try "side sourcing" whereby they help out with some of the easy-to-describe grunt work, but an on-site person who is familiar with (or closer to) the company and customer needs does most of the designing. .
