Subj : Perl and other programming language

Dear Guru

Currently, i learn how to program in Perl, and I plan to do some web
site, that it can collect all the school information, such as lecture's
slides, assignment. And provide mail service to students, chat, load
pictures.

Do you feel that Perl suitable or not?
How about PhP, C/C++, Javascript, Java, VBSCRIPT, ASP?

Which one is more powerful language for the web?

I been to Perl site, they say Perl the most suitable for web system.
