I already suggested a technique to avoid debugging and make design less 
painful and more interesting.

The technique might indeed also send chills down your spine...

Here's a concept from the short list that Joel Spolsky and I agree on. 
People with the "knack" for programming are people who understand 
indirection. The simpler topics are symbols, grammar, algebra (arithmetic, 
not ring), loop statements, functions, and "objects".

That does not imply people who "get" indirection are automatically 
programmers who enjoy the mind-numbing tedium of explaining reality in terms 
simple enough for a stupid computer to understand. But it's not something to 
waste, either.
