You are tacitly assuming that the only value of the bone to the dog is 
the pleasure he will get from chewing it.

Perhaps he searched far and wide to find an exclusive bone to present 
to his lady love - if any dog can have an instant copy, then this dog 
is likely be deprived of his reward.  He might as well not have 
searched at all.
