They want to do to IT what has been done to farm work. Nobody "wants" to be a farm worker because it is crappy pay ($3 per hour) for back-braking work because it has been flooded by non-citizen migrant workers. The same is happening to IT: smart people go to law school instead of IT because IT is too volitile and has poor upward mobility outside of management now largely due to offshoring and visa workers. AeA and it's evil twin ITAA are simply full of shit. They didn't want to lend a helping hand during the depth of the IT recession of 2001-2004, still claiming there was a "shortage". Microsoft only hires about 1 out of every 100 applicants that apply and hire almost entirely graduates. They did not bother to deviate from this narrow formula to expand their horizons, yet Gates went to congress to cry about a "tech shortage". This is clear evidence that Mr. Gates is full of it. That is not "shortage", but being picky. He simply wants "A" choices at "C" prices. There is strong evidence that globalization benefits the upper classes at the expense of us regular Joe's. Dr. Ravi Batra has compiled some interesting evidence on this. -T- .
