No need to ask - just walk up to any policeman and remove his helmet. It is traditional for him to put up a little opposition, but don't worry about that - it's folkloric, in much the same way that a newly appointed parliamentary Speaker is "unwillingly" hauled to the Speaker's Chair by fellow MPs. To keep in the spirit of the thing, you are supposed to play-fight with the policeman, while calling out any of a wide variety of amusing ethnic terms.
