Just to cap this fairly irrelevant side thread, I came across a book
several years ago where the author advocated programming in a word processor
with proportional type. I guess this is the ultimate "my program is
beautiful" concept.

That idea, I must admit I chalked up to "interesting, perhaps the
wave of the future, and no, I'm not going to do it".
