You're assuming that those companies were looking for technical know-how. As far as I can see, many and perhaps even most of the companies that go onto the campuses to recruit are not primarily looking for people with the right skills, but rather for people with the right characteristics - such as ambition, dedication, the ability to learn, leadership potential and similar. Academic grades can be a good indicator for some of those characteristics. -- Leif Roar .
