In particular, Fortran is used widely in aerospace, meterology, virtually all branches of engineering, ... Specifically, finite-element codes, all the major weather forecasting models, all the original (and most of the current) nuclear design codes, the numerical analysis tools at www.netlib.org, ... Forth is still used in in robotics and other embedded systems although I've not done that particular life in quite some time now...at one time (and I presume still is?) the boot loader for Sun was a Forth interpreter. I'm pretty sure the FedEx package tracker firmware is Forth-based. I forget what else was on the list...oh, Postscript. At least the embedded printers and I know of a few of the CAD-based engravers, etc., use Postscript for controlling the heads...I'm sure there are a zillion other applications. .
