Matt, how could you possibly think in a room of 10+ non-hygenically-inclined programmers, muttering and/or hammering away at the keyboard? Good point about the personal space. Not having any personal effects in the office is equivalent to having a minimum wage job IMO. Perhaps you should look at your loyalty to the company in the same way as a minimum wage worker does then. When I was 17, I know I didn't care a flip when I quit the pizza place with no notice. :-) .
