Tell your boss that you can't concentrate because of all the extra
random noises. He should be very interested in keeping people working
at optimally full speed as it's part of his job to accomplish that.
Few companies grab profits from forcing people do nothing half the
time.

However, IMHO, any serious software company should also understand
that being able to do good programming in a noisy environment is
rather an exception than the rule. People stopping by, phones ringing,
and surrounding chatter potentially make it next to impossible to
gather all the important pieces together in your mind in order to
solve the problem at hand.
