Anything safe, e.g. OCaml.

Computer Algebra Systems (e.g. Mathematica) are very useful. High-level
programming languages like OCaml are very useful. Many useful libraries are
already written in C/Fortran/assembler but that doesn't mean you have to
code in C/Fortran/assembler yourself.

Probably C++ for PCs and consoles. All sorts for handhelds etc.
