Subj : Re: system font To : borland.public.cpp.borlandcpp From : Jack Sawatzky Date : Tue Jul 05 2005 06:28 pm I specifically want the font that windows uses for several reasons: 1) It is a bitmap and therefore completely predictable in the amount space it uses. 2) It is the smallest size that is still extremely readable, and therefore takes up less space. 3) Everyone is used to reading it, so it is familiar and comfortable. 4) I have spent 4 months developing an application that has small text areas that I designed specifically to fit this font. I am fully aware that it is not scalable, that is one of its attractions. I most definitely do not want a True Type font, nor do I want a fixed-width font, as they are harder to read. This font appears in nearly every list that Windows displays, it is used for all menu names in Netscape, CorelDraw, and half a dozen other applications I could name. What is it? .
