(see above) Bob, I did try your suggestions without any improvement, but I think I am now getting somewhere at last! I'll let you know which of your suggestions was the vital one - I think mayne the "." instread of "*.*" in BOTH instances and also done = findfirst( mypath, &fb, FA_DIREC ); in BOTH instances. Previously I had only replaced the second occurance as the first part seemd to work OK. We live and learn (slowly) Best wishes Georges .
