Subj : File Name is Too Long for a Paradox 5.0 Table

I have a legacy Paradox Database 8.0,

When I use long directory names, I get the below error when I try
to open the Paradox DB.

File Name is Too Long for a Paradox 5.0 Table, I found the error
code on Borland 9499 but does not give a fix.

If I shorten the database it will work, but this is not feasible for
clients.

Has anyone seen this problem or have solution for Long File Names?
