Ok. My bad. I have been digging through books for stuff on pointers and
such and have discovered that my error was in my declaration and
function call.

I would still like to know more about the true cause for my error (I
was using the "brute force" of similar examples from books to fix the
problem), so if anyone could educate me as to why such was the problem,
it'd be appreciated.
