My problem with it without looking is that it is shareware. This is going to sound odd, but I feel much safer with freeware than shareware. A really big commercial application has a heap of resources and testing thrown at it before release, and you can usually get free patches if something is broken. Plus, there are reputations to protect, and the upgrade cycle is tied to features not fixes. With freeware (and open source is just a subset of this) you often get a dedicated programmer who just loves what he does, and fixes things very quickly. And if the product is good a community developers where you can often get good support. (eg http://www.crimsoneditor.com/). On the other hand shareware often seem to be the worst of both worlds. For example the first item on Zues FAQ says: ..." Does the purchase of Zeus entitle me to free upgrades? No, the Zeus upgrade is not free of charge."... This raises enough red flags that if something is broken I am going to have to pay for it, and keep paying till it is right (or Zues are no longer there). Having said all that, it (Zues) does seem to have some of the features that I am looking for. regards DM .
