Subj : 16 bit application compiled by 4.51 - XP problem

I have an application that was created by Borland C++ 4.51 compiler as a 16 bit programme. It generally works fine, but on some machines runnimg XP, it can be running a report and adding items to a list box and if you try to run another application at the same time, or the screen saver cuts in, the application quits. It can  be rather annoying. Any ideas?
