Well, yeah, there is. FindFirstFile is a 32bit Windows function. It knows all about long file names. findfirst is a 16bit DOS function. DOS knows nothing about long file names. That is why Ed said in his first message: "I assume that you are writing a 32 bit Windows program." That was a valid assumption, as DOS doesn't support long file names. .
