Should I >obtain a copy of this dll from somewhere or attempt an alternate way of installing? That message means that CTL3D32.DLL is already present (not a surprize, it is a critical windows DLL) and in use, so the OS won't let you overwrite it. Yeah, I bumped into that also when installing 4.52 un WinXP. I ignored it, let the install go as far as it could. The compiler seems to work OK anyway. If you have the disk set up as NTFS that's it as far as I know, there isn't any way around it. But if it was set up as Fat32, then you can set up Win98 briefly and install under that. The system stuff won't go to the right places, but the compiler tree will be setup fine. My machine here is setup with two Fat32 partitions, one with XP and one with 98. Most things get installed to both. So I can copy installs from one partition to the other if needed, usually it isn't. IIRC BC4.5 did NOT need to get copied from the Win98 over the WinXP install to get things working OK. The PowerPack and TASM4 installs onto BC4.52 proceeded without fuss under WinXP. If you have either of those, you will likely run into no problems. HTH Kevin .
