Try this:

PlaySound(wave_filename, NULL, SND_FILENAME);

where wave_filename is the file name of the *.wav file.

I have posted a message with the subject "wav demo" into the
attachments group:
    borland.public.attachments

The attachment is a simple GUI program to play from a list
of sounds.  The text of the message tells a bit more about
the demo.
