Subj : Form freezes with thread

I have an application that throws two threads when a button is clicked. One
of the threads is computationally demanding. My problem is that while the
threads execute, the form becomes inoperative and is not refreshed any more,
until the threads finish.

I don't know why this is the case, since the threads are meant to be
indenpendent of the form? How can I stop this from happening?

I already tried setting the priorities of the threads, but that didn't work.
