Subj : Updating/migrating TCpp programs ADVICE? To : borland.public.cpp.borlandcpp From : "Bob Mariotti" Date : Mon Jan 05 2004 08:43 am I have an application that was written using borland Turbocpp and its OWLS graphics. If was originally developed on Win 3.1 and has run well on W95, W98 and WME. However, now it needs to run on XP and it will not! I've decided it is time to delve into it and convert it to a new(er) cross platform C++ compile that will work on W98, XP and W2K. However, while a seasoned designer/programmer in other languages (assembler, perl, etc) I only dabble in c(++). Therefore if someone faced with a similar challenge has accomplished the same type of migration/update I would appreciate what ever advice possible on what components I need and what steps should be taken. I certainly am willing to purchase the compiler and IDE and what ever components might be necessary but the most important thing is that the results look similar, work similar and will run on the various MSWindows platforms. This program does a lot of screen I/O, reads/writes files, call on DLL's and other libraries (crusher) and the usual. Therefore, please someone, provide the pointers and recommendations necessary to get this project under way? I am assuming that a new BorlandCPP suite would be the best/easiest choice but I have no basis to make that decision. And, perhaps one of you readers offer a conversion service? If so please advise? Thanks a million and Happy New Year everyone! Bob .
