No, it's outa my league. I've never done any of this, only read about
it. (I've done enough C++ to know I don't want to use it.)

Ed Mulroy has written about these things several times. You might
Google search the Borland groups for his messages while you wait for
him to drop by here....
Probably look for DLL or DEF keywords.
