sorry about that.  you don't need command line args.  that was just the 
project default, and i didn't erase those lines as they didn't cause any 
harm.

if you are performing an operation of indeterminate length, a while loop 
is usually better than a for loop.

/*this example assumes that leading white space has been trimmed*/
int
   itr = 0;
while((sentence[itr] != ' ') && (sentence[itr] != '\0'))
   itr++;
if(sentence[itr] != '\0') /*covers one word sentences*/
{
   place the cut function here.  itr is the place to cut.
}
