What is the name of the device that you have mapped?
Something like \\server\c  or   \\server\excel files    or even
\\printserver\HP III

So instead of opening a file "M:myfile"  you would open
"\\\\server\\c\\myfile"  or "\\\\server\\excel files\\myfile"

"server" is the name of the computer that has the device.
"c" or "excel files" is the "share name" that that computer is
providing for the shared device or folder.

Go to My Network Places.
Point to one of the connections. A little text pops up that shows the
UNC. Or, right click and choose properties. "Target" is the UNC.
