SBBS would probably be easier. Synchronet has menu "shells" that emulate several of the BBS styles. There Major BBS, Power BBS, PcBoard and some others. Proboard isn't there, but could probably be created. > Unless your going to tell me proboard has a telnet version too? :) It would > save me re-doing all my menus and loosing the message base. assuming we are > still using the hudson message base? Far as I know, Proboard is not supported anymore. Synchronet uses its own message base format. The menus shouldn't be a big problem to change... at least, I don't think they would be. > I want to put on a historic board. a snapshot of my old bbs from the mid > 90's when it went down. messages files and all. You could do this in several ways. There is a program named "Com/IP that emulates a modem. It's not free, but does a good job. Then there is the program called "game server" that might do the same thing. Basically, the programs emulate a modem and the BBS software "inits" the "modem" just like it would a real hardware modem. If I'm remembering right, Synchronet can do something like this as well. I should still have the file that tells how to make Synchronet operate as a "front end" for this purpose. > do you know the urls? i tried sbbs.com and superbbs.com and got nowhere. > > thank for you rhelp thus far. it's been great. Not a problem. The url for Synchronet is "www.synchro.net". .
