Myself like other Sysops, are just trying to get by in the current economy. 
Some are married. Some even have kids. Even if costs have "declined" it would 
still be more than most Sysop's could justify the expense of for an event 
that will most likely never happen.

Not to mention, if it's a "build it yourself" kind of thing -- the same thing 
applies for most Sysop's not being programmers. Most are not electronic 
engineers either. I know if I was asked to build my own circuts I wouldn't 
know WTF I was doing even if I was provided with instructions. If everyone 
caught on quickly to things like electronics and programming then there would 
not be colleges that offer courses on that.

As for Sysop's where money might not be an issue -- money is not an issue 
because time is an issue. Job. Wife. Family. Whatever else. No time to setup 
something like this. Putting it to the top of the to-do list can't be 
justified by most people.
