If ALL you are looking for is a mailing list (as per your mention of yahoo groups, etc...) then http://www.coollist.com is your solution (as i rebuttled in my original message). However if running a TRUE SERVER(S) is what you are looking to do, then the skys the limit, and theres tons of free software to do so. 56k does not mater. What maters is -- is it a decidated 56k line that is logged on 24/7, or are you using your voice line for net access? Lets face it -- none of us are gonna be the next yahoo.com anytime soon, so for a small personal but public server, 56k on a dedicated line is sufficient. For example, Time Warp of the Future BBS runs his server applications on a dedicated 56k connection.
