Subj : WHY DID AOL DO IT?? To : alt.bbs.internet From : crucifyself03 Date : Mon Jun 21 2004 05:04 am Many of the International AOL versions are still using the older non-web based interface for news, weather, message boards, chat and the like. My guess would be because members of AOL Canada, and other countries are for the most part still using dialup modems and it would make sense not to enforce a web based interface for everything, when a Commercial Online GUI works best. I've been around long enough to understand the differences between a Commercial Online service and the Internet. Commercial Online services are but all dead (except for AOL). Well, I think that AOL USA Commercial Online Service look and feel is all but dead know. This is because AOL in its effort to enforce broadband and new computers on its 25 million userbase, is doing everything it can to make sure we cannot enjoy AOL unless of coarse we have a broadband connection and a newer PC running a late AOL version. I do not agree with AOL here.. .
