Subj : How do Search Engines Index Ftp sites? To : alt.bbs.internet,alt.bbs.synchronet,alt.bbs.sysop,alt.www.webmaster,comp.bbs.misc,comp.bbs.tbbs From : "Tom Miller" Date : Thu Dec 25 2003 10:12 pm If a search engine is indexing a www site that has "directory browse" available for the downloads area, then it can follow the hyperlinks down and index all the downloads (175,000 or so). But if you stop allowing the directory browse and only make the files avilable via an Ftp server, can Google get in there on say an anonymous logon and spider the site?
