If your post does not have anything to do with BBS's then do NOT post! This is so we will create a nice discussion platform for all the users. FAQ ----------------------- Last updated 01/01/2001 This FAQ is Y2K compatiable. Q) What is this newsgroup for? A) This newsgroup is for BBS ads. The where to find the "NEWEST and COOLEST" BBS around. BBS's from All Around the world are welcome to post here. But please, if you use a different character set then the standard "English", please post a copy in English also. If you do not support English, then a little note in the message indicating this would help out a lot. Q) What is a BBS? A) BBS short for Bulletin Board System. In the early days, it was a way for users to connect to computers and post messages, download files, chat with other users, and play online games. And we are still alive and doing well. Q) What type of messages are allowed here? A) Only messages dealing with BBS's are allowed here. Q) Can we post files here? A) NO! There is a newsgroup just for the posting of BBS programs. Please use alt.binaires.bbs ... or if it is a door game, then use alt.binaries.bbs.doors Q) What about all of that porn stuff I see here? A) When a porn message or any other that does not have to do with a BBS is posted, the offending ISP is informed of the abuse, and the user is warned not post the message again. The only exception would be the BBS's that offer Adult access. However, those BBS's should state plain and simple, that they offer Adult access upon verification of the user. Q) I run a Web-based BBS, can I post here? A) Yes, as long as it is in good taste, and does not promote porn ONLY. In other words, as long as you understand that there are minors who read these newsgroups, we need to keep this in mind. When posting that you have and adult area, try to keep it low-key so the kids do not get all excited about the possibility of T&A. Q) I am holding a raffle, can I post in this newsgroup? A) No. Q) Why not? There are all kinds of other messages. A) Because holding a Raffle does not have anything to do with posting about a BBS. Now, if you are a SysOp and you hold contests, please feel free to post about it. As there are several SysOps who run tournaments once a month, and some have some great prizes. Q) Who is the moderator of this newsgroup? A) At this time, we believe that this newsgroup should be SELF-moderated. We do however have several people including myself who reports off-topic messages and messages that should not be posted here to the offending users ISP. Do not think that because you are using DejaNews that your true ISP is hidden. It is NOT. Q) So, since there is no moderator, why should we even listen or care about this FAQ?? A) Because, failing to follow these guidelines will result in a report being made to your ISP. If you are posting "Make Money" type of ads, you should be aware, many of these (if NOT ALL) ARE ILLEGAL in the USA. These type of ads can and will cause you to lose your Internet account. Q) I am not a citizen of the USA, so I am allowed to post anything I want? A) NO! Even if you are not a Citizen of the USA, MLM, MMF, Porn, etc is NOT allowed in this Newsgroup. SPAM PERIOD is NOT allowed in this Newsgroup. Abuse this newsgroup, and you will lose access to this group, either by automatic post cancellation or by losing your account wiht your ISP. Q) I have a webpage that offers "Work At Home" opportunities, can I post it? A) Is it a BBS? If the answer is NO, then NO, you can not. There are newsgroups just for that kind of stuff. Q) I am selling Product XYZ, is it ok if I post here? A) Are you a SysOp of a BBS, and do you sell this via the BBS? If not, then NO you may not. There are newsgroups for selling non-BBS related items. Try any of the newsgroups with "forsale" in then name. Q) I am selling my BBS, is it ok if I post it here? A) Yes, however, you would probably get a better response if you post it in a "forsale" newsgroup. Q) I sell computers, can I post here? A) It is discouraged, as there numerous newsgroups just for that. Q) Can I make requests for BBS software/hacks/cracks/warez in this group? A) NO! To request certain BBS software, please use either alt.binaries.bbs, alt.bbs, or the appropriate newsgroup for your request. Hacks, Cracks, and warez are NOT permitted in this newsgroup. Requesting them will result in a warning sent to your ISP. Along with that warning, we will forward your email address and all other information to the authorities and the authors of the programs you are trying to use Illegally. Q) I am making money off the "Get paid to surf" websites. Can I post them here? A) NO! It is against the TOS of those companies for you to SPAM this message to the newsgroups, or to people you do not know. In many cases where a person posts these types of links, they will normally lose their "Account" with those companies. So, to be on the safe side, do NOT post them in this newsgroup.
