I'm running an Anime and gaming themed telnet bbs at telnet://shurato.net. 
Messages are available from the telnet bbs or from any news client at 
news://shurato.net, mostly fido areas, but some local areas and I will be 
adding anime related news groups as well.  If you wish to download files, 
you'll need to use a telnet program that supports zmodem, like hyperterminal 
or mtelnet.  I have a large collection of fansubs, including some hard to 
find ones (nothing licensed though) and a large collection of games; local, 
door game network and League10.
