With unlimited LD widely available, the LD part isn't so much the issue. The dialup aspect is. I have broadband and do not have a dialup modem hooked up to any phone line. I used to know this guy, and I'm not sure if he even reads usenet or echomail or anything anymore. Last he told me -- which was years ago -- is TransX loads on an event to connect to the Internet to transfer mail. If he wants to stay on dialup thats his perogative. However if he went 24/7 dialup to the Internet, he might get more callers. If all he is concerned about is the ANSI end of things, a 56k modem can easily support 3 telnet nodes without lag if telnet is all he is using the net connection for. He was also a more DOS Based person last I checked, which is fine also. With Netmodem now open source, he can still run what he's currrntly running via telnet. If he feels he doesn't want the GUI, he could always have a DOS Window loaded in the foreground at all times and pretend Windows isn't even there. Whatever he wants to do PERIOD is his choice -- but unless he has alot of local users calling in via dialup, the phone line for the BBS and the net connection seems like a waste unless he goes telnet. However thats just my opinion. If his preferences are DOS and Dialup, I don't see any reason why he couldn't go telnet and still retain his personal preferences. .--------------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | ICQ: 25055930 | | Websites owned / administered: xpresit.net - malkaviabbs.com | | ssn.xpresit.org - josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | weightloss.malkaviabbs.com - as well as others... | | XpRESit NET - The ORIGINAL Synchronet Support Net - Malkavia BBS | | Email: time.warrior(at)malkaviabbs.com - xpresitnet(at)theramp.net | \____________________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com .
